We had a pretty busy weekend, and most of it fit into a theme of celebration. Who doesn't like to celebrate?Friday was my mom's birthday, so on Thursday Baylee and I went to lunch with my mom, Grandma Higgins, Aunt Patti, and Aunt Melissa to celebrate during my mom's lunch break. We ate at Paradise Bakery in a cute shopping area in Tempe. Thursday night I went with my sister, Annie, to see Rent. Rent is no longer on Broadway, so they taped the last performance and this past weekend you could see it in some movie theatres. Not as cheap as a normal movie, but not as expensive as Broadway. Annie is pretty bummed it's not on Broadway anymore, so she was dying to go and at least see it on screen, but not the movie version that she already has. It was fun to see and to go with her-she is very knowledgable on Rent.
Friday we took my parents for a quick birthday dinner at Costa Vida for my mom's birthday and then headed to Glendale for a wedding reception. Ben's cousin got married here on Friday, and since we missed the ceremony and luncheon, we wanted to at least make it to the reception. Ben had fun talking with cousins, while I spent the whole 1-1 1/2 hours we were there chasing Baylee around and trying to keep her out of the bride's parent's house. So, fun for Ben, not the greatest time I've ever had for me. But it was still nice to go, even if we did have to miss the baseball game Ben had won tickets to for it. :) We had fun seeing everyone. After the reception, we came home and sang (well, at least my dad and I) to my mom, and had some of the cake I made her for her birthday. It was a yummy Mexican Chocolate cake with Carmelized Sugar frosting. I think she liked it (she said she did).
Saturday morning Ben spent trying to fix the fridge and finding us a new rental that will do a month to month. We found a guy that is considering a month to month, and we went and saw the house, which looked nice. So keep your fingers crossed for us-I am so sick of looking for houses (rental and buys). Saturday night we had dinner with my brother, Scott. After dinner we went with him, my parents, and my Aunt Melissa, Uncle Doug, and cousin Ryan for ice cream at Streamers, to once again celebrate my mom's bday. Ben and I shared their seasonal Skookie, which was a huge Snickerdoodle cooked in a skillet, with Pumpkin ice cream. Yum!

I had to get this picture of Baylee trying to eat what was left (like the nice mess of it down her shirt?). She was loving playing with Ryan and sitting on Doug's lap so much that she didn't want any until right when we were leaving. After Streamers, Ben and I took Baylee to Freestone Park, even though it was 10 pm. They had a So Long To Summer celebration that night, and we made it just in time for fireworks. Baylee had fallen asleep in the car (she didn't take her nap that day either), but woke up to see them. Luckily she fell right to sleep on the way home.

Baylee loved the fireworks! Next year we will have to go for the other things too. Yesterday my cousin Parker had his mission farewell at church, so we went and saw him speak. He did a great job, and will be a great missionary. I know he will definetly be missed though! Later we went over to my grandparents house for dinner. They were so great to feed us while we are still trying to figure out our fridge situation! Baylee loved finding the chickens and playing in the huge yard, too. It was fun to go to their house-I always love going there.
So there you have our weekend! Sorry I don't have more pictures.
