Getting In Touch With Nature

Ok, so it's definitely time for an update. Our September hasn't been too incredibly busy, but the things we have done all seem to relate to nature in some way or another. So, here's some fun nature-ish things we've been doing:

One the first Friday of the month we went with my aunt, uncle, and cousin (one of Baylee's favorite people in the world) to a planetarium show at Mesa Community College. It was a show set to Pink Floyd music, and it was pretty neat to watch. I didn't get any pictures, but my Aunt Melissa was nice enough to let me steal this one from her blog. We barely made it into the 9 pm show, which we lucked into because some people didn't stay (otherwise we would have gotten into the last show at 9:30). Ben almost missed it because he was nice enough to deal with a cranky Payton, who was nice enough to calm down and fall asleep during the show. Baylee loved it, and we are planning on going again next month. I think we will plan better and make sure to be early next time.

We went on our first family camping trip!!!! Our ward at church had a campout, and since we are on the activities committee we were helping with it. I don't know how helpful we were (at least not me). It was a lot of fun, despite Payton screaming the whole night, Baylee running off into the woods with a new friend, and Payton getting a nice scraped up arm from a log getting dropped on him. I didn't get many pictures, but I did get a couple.
Payton was in heaven getting to run around in the woods. It got a little old chasing him the whole time, though.

Thanks to my cousin and aunt and uncle for lending us camping gear! We only had one sleeping bag and a tent that we've had since we got married and never used. It was nice to have family to lend us everything else we needed. My cousin Brooke even had these cute little chairs for the kids.

One of the few hours that Payton actually slept. Baylee was ready to pass out pretty early too.

Payton wanted to go to sleep at 8 during campfire activities. As soon as I got him to sleep, Ben and Baylee brought me some yummy cobbler and then Baylee wanted to go to sleep. It was so cold that we had to bundle up as much as possible. I heard it hit 21 degrees at one point. After freezing the whole night and Ben and I only getting 3 hours of sleep, we were happy to leave after a few hours of fun the next morning. But we really did have fun!

My aunt Melissa had a Stampin' Up card class this past Saturday. She was nice enough to make a deal with me that involves me making cards and bringing cupcakes. So, I took over my lemon raspberry cupcakes with lemon cream cheese frosting. Not as tasty as last time, but still pretty good.

I figure this relates to nature because the cards were Christmas (and also made from trees and the cupcakes had fruit). Haha. The cards were fun to make, and really cute!

Saturday night our friends, The Vans, took us up to a really cool place that overlooks the whole valley. I tried to get some pictures, but Payton thought he should be playing photographer for the night and the batteries kept doing funny things.

Ben tried to get a picture of him and Payton with the lights in the background. It didn't work to well.

Here's a picture of the lights, it just has dust floating in it.

My grandparents had a potluck outside on Sunday and my grandma asked me to bring cupcakes. So I whipped up some banana with butterscotch cream cheese frosting. Pretty tasty. I didn't get any other pictures, we had a very cranky boy again. In fact, I almost forgot to get a picture of the cupcakes. It was fun to get together with family and eat yummy food.

And just because- the last couple of days I've had fun whipping up these flowers for some new hairbows for Baylee. They will be cuter when they are done, and I still have a few more to make.

So there's our nature-ful September. Hopefully more fun to come now that it's maybe thinking about cooling down?
