Dinner Ideas, Anyone?
So, I was just emailed and asked to take dinner to someone in our ward who had a baby almost two weeks ago. Seeing how I've never had to take anyone dinner before and nobody brought us dinner when I had Baylee or any other time, I don't really know what to take them. We usually just have a quick reheated frozen type dinner at home since Ben gets home late, but I'm all for cooking them something. I kinda feel like I should cook an actual meal, too, since anyone can throw a frozen meal in a skillet or an oven or microwave, etc. It's just hard to know what to cook, since I don't know what they like and don't like... Also, do I take a dessert, too? Who doesn't like dessert, but if people have been taking them dinner for almost two weeks do they have tons of desserts already or left over Thanksgiving desserts? So, everyone please let me know any suggestions on what to make a family with a new baby, and a 16 month old! I need your help!

I usually call the family to see what time they want it and see if there are any allergies/food aversions.I usually do a main dish with some meat a salad and a simple dessert. how about pesto pasta w/chicken? everyone likes pesto and chicken right? Also I don't think they would notice if you served them a "frozen" dinner. I also try to make sure I use disposable dishes, so they don't have to worry about cleaning and returning them.
I loved your cheesy chicken and broccoli, you could make that...
Good luck! You can call me if you need more ideas (I love to cook).
I have done enchiladas with salad (and the enchiladas could be frozen to eat later) with an easy mac -mac and cheese for their toddler, I have done a grilled chicken with basil/rosemary, with steamed veggies and rice for someone with a very strict diet and I gave them a 1/2 gallon of vanilla ice cream for dessert, and I've also done breaded chicken with bow tie pasta with salad and brownies for dessert. Disposable dishes is a must. Another good dish is lasagna, someone made me homemade pizza/calzones, and someone else gave us chicken over stuffing, and two people gave us homemade soups when I had Luke. I think most people in that situation are just grateful for the food, so anything you give will be fantastic and greatly appreciated.
