Duck!

Not a whole lot of exciting things are happening here lately, but we did happen to get Baylee's first professional pictures taken this weekend! We were in the mall, and there was an Antique Photo place, where you dress up like olden days. They had a "special" for a 10 x 13" pciture for $20. Not the best deal (not too bad either), but it was such a cute place and we've never gotten Baylee's pictures taken professionally before. So, we dressed her up and they did 4 different little scenes with her. It'll be hard to choose just one! They won't be done until September 8th :( I'm hoping it scans well so we can make our own copies, since their package deals were worse prices. If the picture scans well, I will have to post it when we get it. We might end up with a few different ones, though, going off of how cute they were looking...

We also went back to the park Saturday, and this time we remembered our camera and bread! So here are a couple of pictures of us feeding the ducks (I know, too exciting, right?)
No duck attack this time, but I did get bitten by a bunch of ants, which isn't a good thing for me. I react funny to ant bites, and my toes are still swollen and itchy from it today and I can already see the scars. Oh well, it could be worse!

Hooray!

Baylee finally decided to make use of her Princess potty, other than just pretending....

Puppy Love

I don't think very many people will find this interesting, but last night we went to the mall, and Baylee sweet talked Ben into getting a Build-a-bear. She didn't want a bear, she wanted a puppy. So, we let her do it, and she loved every second of it. Then it came time to name her puppy. Usually her stuffed animals names are just whatever animal they are, so I was really surprised when she came up with the name "Bella" all by herself! I'm asuming she got the name from a little dog that is sometimes on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and the funny part about Bella is that it is or was one of our neice, Claire's, many alternate personalities (Baylee's only met Claire once, so I don't think she picked the name up from her). Gotta love those t.v. shows! Baylee also picked out Bella's red hair bows all on her own. That girl knows what she wants! It was also so cute to see her giving Bella kisses all the way home.
In other events, we took Baylee to the park on Monday night. It was still a little scorching, but I miss being able to spend time outside. It was a beautiful park with a huge lake and a couple of little playgrounds and some sports fields. They even have a little train, carousel, and mini ferris wheel. Of course they weren't open yet (I think they close for the summer?), but we'll go back for them. After finishing on the playground, we sat on a bench by the lake, and a crowd of ducks came to greet us. One liked us so much, he tried to bite off my toe. Despite that, I still want to go back and take family pictures when it cools off a little more.

Bilingual

Baylee picks up a lot of phrases and actions from her little shows she likes to watch. Lately Dora the Explorer and Go Diego Go, or Di-ga-doe as she says, have become some of her favorites, much to my dismay. These shows are in English with some Spanish (she also love Ni Hao Kai-lan with Chinese). Thanks to Dora and Diego (I think Cinderella and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse may also be to blame), Baylee has some imaginary friends. They aren't human though, they are birds. Baby Birdy comes everywhere with us. Here's a picture of how Baylee carries her birdies:There's a story behind the birdies, so if you want to know, just ask me. Thanks to Dora and Diego, Baylee also goes around saying that she's one of them or Boots or Baby Jaguar (Dora and Diego's buddies) all day long, and even likes to name us one of them, too. Di-ga-doe is her favorite person to be though. Probably because he's the one that saves all the animals. I could go on and on about the funny things Baylee picks up off of her t.v. shows, but I'll end with one more Dora and Diego one. Yesterday, my mom and I were in the car with Baylee when all of the sudden she starts counting. This wouldn't be anything out of the ordinary for her (she's been counting to 15 for months), except that she was counting in Spanish! Only to six, but still kinda crazy! We've never tried to teach her, so she must have picked it up from her shows. So, here's a little video of it. She's not pronoucing the numbers as well (quatro sounds like wonderful) and it's only to five, but she usually pronounces them perfect with a Spanish accent as well.

It's crazy what little kids pick up!

Vacation for 2, not 3!

We did it! We finally left Baylee for a night! Saturday Ben and I left Baylee with my parents for the whole day and night and went up to Scottsdale to celebrate our 4th anniversary (yep, it's been 4 whole years!), which was the 6th. We saw The Dark Knight, ate lots of yummy (and not so yummy) food, and did some shopping. Not the most fun-packed trip we've ever been on, but it was nice to have some adult time. Although we did miss Baylee, too. My parents said she did really well, so it was nice to know we can leave her for a night without her freaking out.

Happy anniversary, Ben! I'm so lucky to be married to you! You are a wonderful husband and daddy, and I couldn't have asked for anyone better! Thanks for all you do! I love you!

The Princess Potty

Baylee has been pretty into the potty for a little while now. She's always wanting to use it, but when you put her on it, she just kinda freaks out. After getting Disney Princess undies from Aunt Patti for her birthday, she's been wanting to wear them and has become a little more into the potty. So, we finally decided to get her a potty (we were waiting to get a little more settled also before worrying about potty training). Since Baylee is really into Disney Princesses we decided to order her a Disney Princess potty, and she assured me she'd use it if we got it. We had it shipped to the store that way we didn't have to pay $8 in shipping, and Walmart is pretty close anyways. So, Ben and I went to pick it up yesterday, and here's the first thing Baylee did as soon as we had it put together:
Right in the family room-she's not shy. We eventually got her off of it and Ben was able to get it into the bathroom. However, maybe 20 minutes later she somehow convinced me she had to "poop" and to "come sit with me". So we spent a good 15-20 minutes in the bathroom while she sat on her potty and looked at the reward certificate that came with it. Of course she didn't really use it. So, I told her to have her daddy come sit with her, and he was too interested in a tv show. But he did get a diaper back on her. Maybe ten minutes later she wouldn't stop trying to sit on my lap while I was trying to use the computer and her diaper got a little warm. Yep, after all that time on the potty and excitment about it, she ended up peeing in her diaper. This might be harder than I thought!
